Cancer RegistryChildrens Hospital Los Angeles established a cancer registry in 1968, 20 years before required to do so by California State Law. Currently, all hospitals and physicians in California are required to report information about patients with any and every type of cancer to a regional registry. The California Cancer Registry (CCR) was created in 1985 by the state legislature in response to public concerns that more was needed to be done to find causes and cures for cancer. Childrens Hospital's Cancer Registry is the largest pediatric cancer registry in California. How is Information Kept?Demographic, diagnostic and treatment information is abstracted from the patients' medical records and entered into a special computer program. What Else Does the Cancer Registry Do?The Cancer Registry coordinates weekly Tumor Board conferences at our hospital. |
