International Outreach

Childrens Hospital Los Angeles caring staff offer their services as medical professionals to the community by treating children in countries throughout the world, including:

• performing reconstructive surgeries in Lima, Peru
• establishing state-of-the-art treatment programs at the Institute for Pediatric Oncology in Moscow
• teaching comprehensive, postgraduate diabetes coursework in Chennai, India
• advising pediatric oncologists and hematologists in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Rio Grande del Sul, Brazil

Our doctors and nurses work with international volunteer organizations and medical professionals such as:

• performing cleft palate surgeries on children in Mombassa, Kenya through Operation Smile
• sending a delegation of teaching physicians and surgeons  to work with medical professionals at the Maternal and Children’s Research Center in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia through Team International
• establishing graduate-level research programs with prestigious universities in other countries, most recently at China Medical University in Senyang, China
