J. Dominic Femino, MDJ. Dominic Femino, M.D. has served as an attending pediatric orthopaedic surgeon in the Division of Orthopaedics of the Department of Surgery at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles since 2000, when he completed his fellowship at the hospital. He is an assistant professor of clinical orthopaedic surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. Dr. Femino was on the 80-member team that successfully separated conjoined twins at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles on Sept. 11, 2003, in a rare, highly complex and historic procedure. He will lead the orthopaedics team in the separation of conjoined twins Regina and Renata Salinas Fierros on June 14, 2006. Dr. Femino's major areas of research interest include the treatment, oncologic and functional outcomes of patients with sarcomas of the pelvis and extremities, limb salvage surgery and the treatment of benign and malignant tumors in children. He has authored 20 peer-reviewed articles, other articles and book chapters, and he has made 40 nationwide presentations in his two areas of expertise, orthopaedics and oncology. He received a bachelor's degree (1987) cum laude from Yale University and a medical degree (1991) from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Femino served his internship (1991) and orthopaedic residency (1992-94) at LAC+USC Medical Center. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery (1994-96) at Johns Hopkins University Hospital Dr. Femino completed a fellowship in orthopaedic oncology (1998-99) at the University of Washington Medical Center and a fellowship in pediatric orthopaedic surgery (1999-2000) at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. |
