William McIlvaine MD, CM, FRCPC, FAAPWilliam B. McIlvaine, M.D., C.M., FRCPC, FAAP is the associate chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. He is an associate professor of clinical anesthesiology at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. Dr. McIlvaine is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. McIlvaine led the anesthesia team that successfully separated conjoined twins at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles on Sept. 11, 2003, in a rare, highly complex and historic procedure. He will lead a similar anesthesia team in the separation of conjoined twins Regina and Renata Salinas Fierros on June 14, 2006. Dr. McIlvaine has authored 26 peer-reviewed articles, abstracts and book chapters, and he has delivered 60 lectures worldwide. He was instrumental in creating an audio-visual slide presentation, "An Introduction to Anesthesiology," for Marquest Medical Products in association with the Department of Biomedical Communications of the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Dr. McIlvaine received a bachelor's degree (1974) from Stanford University and medical degrees from McGill University (1978) in Montreal, Canada. Dr. McIlvaine completed an internship (1978-1979) at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Montreal and a residency in anesthesiology (1979-1982) at McGill University. He also completed a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology (1982-1983) at Children's Memorial Hospital and Northwestern University in Chicago. Dr. McIlvaine lives in Burbank, California. |
