John Gross, MD, FACSJohn Gross, M.D., FACS is an attending surgeon in the Division of Plastic Surgery of the Department of Surgery at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, and he is the chief of plastic surgical services at LAC+USC Medical Center. He is an assistant professor of surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. Dr. Gross is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Gross led the plastic surgery team that successfully separated conjoined twins at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles on Sept. 11, 2003, in a rare, highly complex and historic procedure. He will lead a similar plastic surgery team in the separation of conjoined twins Regina and Renata Salinas Fierros on June 14, 2006. Dr. Gross's major areas of research interest include craniofacial surgery, post-traumatic facial deformities, pediatric plastic and reconstructive surgery and microvascular surgery. He has authored 20 peer-reviewed articles, abstracts and book chapters, and he has been invited to deliver more than 40 lectures. Dr. Gross received both a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering (1980) and a medical degree (1984) from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Dr. Gross completed an internship (1984-1985) at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, along with a residency in general surgery (1985-1989) at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami and a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery (1989-1991) at the University of Southern California He also completed a fellowship in craniofacial surgery (1992-1993) at the University of Miami.
