Meet Our Chief of Nursing

Quote from the CEO
"The American Nursing Credentialing Center made “official" what so many of our patient families, and those within the profession, have come to know ─ that this hospital is a very, very special place, and its nurses are, too." - Richard D. Cordova

Childrens Hospital Los Angeles is honored to have received Magnet Recognition for its quality patient care and nursing excellence on February 20, 2008.

The Magnet Recognition Program® provides individuals who need medical care with the ultimate benchmark to measure the quality of care that they can expect to receive at a Magnet Hospital.  The Program is designed to elevate the reputation and standards of the nursing profession.

The Magnet Recognition Program® was developed by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, the largest and most prestigious nursing credentialing organization in the United States, to recognize health care organizations, like Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, that provide the very best in nursing care and uphold the tradition of professional nursing practice.

The Magnet Recognition Program® is based on quality indicators and standards of nursing practice as defined in the American Nurses Association's Scope and Standards for Nurse Administrators (2003). The Magnet designation process includes the appraisal of both qualitative and quantitative factors in nursing.

Magnet Program representatives visited the hospital for an extensive review on December 3-5, 2007 when they interviewed staff, patients, families, and administrators regarding nursing practices.
