Committee on Clinical Investigations

The Committee on Clinical Investigations (CCI) is the Institutional Review Board (IRB) of Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.  It is charged with protecting the rights and welfare of human research subjects in research studies conducted at our hospital and elsewhere by our faculty or staff, using hospital patients or private information about them, and funded by our through the hospital.

Guided by the principles of the Belmont Report, the CCI reviews all human research protocols in accordance with federal regulations, state laws, and local and hospital policy.  The CCI comprises members from a variety of scientific disciplines as well as community and lay members to assure a comprehensive review process.  Through a collaborative partnership, the CCI assists investigators in the protection of human subjects.  These subjects are truly a scarce resource, worthy of our gratitude, respect and protection.
