The Saban Research Institute of Childrens Hospital Los AngelesThe Childrens Hospital Los Angeles Research Institute, which was originally created in 1992 was designated The Saban Research Institute in 2003. Since that time, The Saban Research Institute has proven to be a milestone in the commitment that our institution has made to the field of research. The mission of The Saban Research Institute is “to foster an environment of scientific excellence where biomedical research will lead to discoveries involving the molecular and clinical understanding of childhood development and the implementation of procedures to diagnose, treat and prevent pediatric diseases and promote child health.” The Institute is also committed to promoting scientific careers in young people at high school and college level through its career development programs and international cooperation through a variety of outreach programs. Our AchievementsWith an international staff of more than 100 scientists and physicians, the Institute has drawn tremendous talent from all over the world, becoming one of the country’s few freestanding pediatric research centers focused on translating inquiry in the laboratory into clinical therapies. Research Initiatives and PrioritiesAmong the top scientific research priorities at The Saban Research Institute are Cancer, Diabetes and Obesity, Developmental Biology, Cardiovascular and Heart Defects, Neuroscience and Neurological Disorders, Maternal-Fetal Health, Cell Therapy and Regenerative Medicine, Clinical Imaging Research, Health Outcomes and Intervention, Bone Disorders, Chronic Anemias of Childhood, Immunodeficiencies and Infectious Disorders. |









The conduct of innovative research has been central to the mission of Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, almost since it was created in 1991. Our research activities involve fundamental inquiries in the laboratory, clinical investigations at the bedside and population–based studies in the community. All of our research is aimed at improving children's health and is conducted under the auspices of our Research Institute, which contains six Centers of Clinical Excellence and Institutes.
