Pain Management Program

The Comfort & Pain Management Program addresses the biological, psychological, social, cultural and spiritual aspects of pain and fear with an interdisciplinary, family-centered approach.

The MAGIK (making aches go-away in kids) Inpatient Service cares for more than 1,800 patients each year.  The team provides:

• daily pain management for hospitalized children
• consultative services to medical and surgical staff
• pain assessments
• medication management
• coordination of other therapies 
• integration with other disciplines

The MAGIK Outpatient Chronic Pain Clinic follows nearly 150 patients a year, providing assistance with complex and long-term pain issues.  Along with assessment and management services, clinic staff offer:

• individual and family therapy
• breathing, relaxation and imagery training
• counseling on parenting issues
• education and coordination of services

The Comfort & Pain Management team also provides oversight and coordination of the Heart Touch Massage Program (massage therapy) and pet-assisted therapy for hospitalized children.
