Surgical Care

We have one of the country’s finest, most comprehensive surgical programs for children:

• Performing over 13,300 procedures for children each year
• Completing more complex surgeries than any other hospital in Southern California
• Incorporating a full spectrum of surgical specialties

Our patients range in age from newborns to adolescents are treated in the hospital’s spacious, state-of-the-art Burtie Green Bettingen Surgery Center, which opened in 2001.  The hospital's surgical expertise was demonstrated recently with a complex intervention to separate conjoined twins, Regina and Renata Fierro, who were joined at the abdomen and pelvis.  

The Department of Surgery brings together specialized pediatric knowledge, dedication to excellence and family-centered care.  Our surgeons conduct research and maintain academic affiliations with the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California.  Each specialty is staffed by board-certified physicians, who together represent one of the largest pediatric multispecialty medical and surgical groups in the U.S.
